I get a lot of questions about my purses... I'll answer some of the more common questions here.
Q: So where do you get all of those tabs? You must drink a lot of pop/beer!
A: My friends and family collect them for me, but a bulk of them came from a campus fundraiser. My college was collecting
tabs for charity. The charity would get 33 cents per pound, so I offered them $1.00 per pound.
Q: Do you use clean tabs?
A: Yes. I always clean the tabs before using them.
Q: Do the purses have any sharp edges?
A: No. Any sharp edges are trimmed before use.
Q: Are the purses heavy?
A: No. They are surprisingly light. Aluminum is one of the most durable yet light metals.
Q: Are the purses lined?
A: The purses are crochet-lined. The technique I use to create my bags allows for a smooth, crocheted interior, without
the need to add a bulky fabric lining. Items inside the purse are not visible from the outside.
Q: Did you think of this idea yourself?
A: A wonderful family friend gave me a magazine article on how to make a simple belt using pop tabs. I started making
belts, then moved onto purses. After doing some research, I discovered that other people do this also, mostly in Brazil. My
Original Pop Tab Purse is the original result of my own creative mind. The crocheted Pop Tab Purses are inspired by Brazilian
creations that I have seen.
Q: How long does it take to make a purse?
A: When I first started making purses, it took me about 12 hours per purse. I have decreased my time to about eight to
ten hours for a normal sized purse. Purses are priced accordingly.
